Hello :) I'm Catherine McMahon and I am located on the south coast of NSW, Australia. I have over 15 years’ experience as a holistic therapist, drawing on a wide and varied tool box of behavioural change modalities supporting women to over-come the challenges of being a woman and a mama.

1. How Can Self-Hypnosis Support Stress Relief?

Hypnosis can be used to support stress relief in two ways.


1. Hypnosis allows you to achieve a deep state of relaxation that allows you to easily and effortlessly release tension, tightness or resistance that is being held in the body. This supports overall health and wellbeing by calming al of the systems, organs and muscles of the body.

2. Hypnosis is a gentle yet highly powerful way to address subconscious patterns, beliefs and emotional triggers that contribute to the amount of stress that you experience in your life. 2. Stress, Hypnosis & Brainwaves

Beta brainwaves are associated with alertness and focused concentration, but they can also contribute to feelings of anxiety and stress. Beta waves, or beta rhythm, are a neural oscillation (brainwave) in the brain with a frequency range of between 12.5 and 30 Hz. During hypnosis, your brain produces fewer beta waves, which can help you feel more calm and relaxed. Hypnosis stimulates the brain by decreasing the beta brain waves and increasing alpha brain waves. The frequency of alpha brain waves is between 8 and 13 Hz. When you enter a state of hypnosis, your brain produces more alpha waves than usual, which can help you feel more relaxed and receptive to receiving positive suggestions designed to improve your overall health and wellbeing.
